Work Based CPD
This core module is designed to help participants become truly effective, rounded and versatile team members. It focuses on personal and professional effectiveness and covers a range of field skills, including working at heights, working near water, confined spaces and USAR.
Human Resource management
Students will gain an understanding of the principles and theories of Human Resource Management applied to a range of emergency personnel issues.
Leadership and Human resource development
This module provides an in depth understanding of leadership, group dynamics and the role of training and development.
Hazardous Materials and environmental protection
This module covers the operational response to incidents involving hazardous materials and develops an understanding of potential environmental impacts.
Community Preparedness
Students explore the psychological and sociological considerations affecting individuals and communities in response to stressful or traumatic events.
Patient Assessment
Designed to develop knowledge, skills and understanding of patient assessment, this module will provide a wide variety of theoretical perspectives on assessment for effective patient care.
Research Project
Students are encouraged to develop the analytical skills necessary to evaluate research in their field and undertake an investigative study of a subject to improve service delivery.
Resource management
Students learn the physical and financial management of resources in order to maximise operational performance and make recommendations for team and organisational improvement.
Organisational Development
The changes effecting organisations both at a theoretical and practical level are examined in this module. Students will learn the methods and strategies adopted to implement and manage change in light of national and international events.
Managing Incidents and emergency situations
This module develops knowledge relevant to the management of operational incidents and major emergency situations and provides an understanding of the factors and priorities that influence the decision making process.
Emergency planning and contingency management
This module provides the knowledge and understanding necessary to develop effective multi-agency planning strategies for the management of emergencies.
Patient Management from hostile environments
Students develop knowledge of strategies for effective advanced life support and rescue in hostile environments, enabling first contact rescuers to co-ordinate initial emergency care and to assist health care professionals.
Animal Rescue
Students gain an understanding of the procedures for effective rescue of a range of domestic and wild species, including marine mammals.
